Social Media and Double, Tripple.... Posting?!

Here is what I do - Tell me your thoughts?

For the last year - Oh wait! Happy Blog Anniversary to Us! - I post on this blog once a week. THEN I post a link to this blog in a couple of Linkedin groups, Twitter, Facebook, a Facebook Group, Google+, AND Pinterest.

I didn't start out doing that cuz I know that I have a lot of the same followers on all those sites. I was/am worried about the 'annoyance factor' when one of my fabulous followers comes across a repeat post. BUT after mustering up some courage, I posted in all those previously mentioned places and my traffic went up. To me that says I am reaching more people who didn't happen to catch it in the other places I posted...

NOW I have even re-Tweeted, re-Facebooked (you get the idea) about mid week to all my social media sites. Traffic goes up again. Clearly I am reaching new people.

Are any of you annoyed with this? Numbers are NOT the only reason to blog - connecting with people IS a reason to blog. I must admit that when I check out a new follower on Twitter (or any social media site), if all I see is the same tweet over and over again, I don't follow them.

I do try to mix it all up for everyone's sake.

Seriously, let me know your experiences, thoughts - I can take it! :-) Thanks in advance.

  2. I do what you are referring to sometimes, and do monitor the traffic stats on the various places you've mentioned. I just can't verify if the traffic is real (wanted to say for real but it looks stupid in black and white, now I realize how stupid it must sound). I've not experienced any dramatic up tick in comments or verified follows. Just seems like ghost clicks.

    1. Hi Boon! Great point. I can't see who is actually stopping by. I just see a correlation between when I post and numbers going up. Thanks I hadn't thought of that.

If I can believe my blog stats - Most come from Linkedin, then Pinterest.

GREAT to see you! Thanks for the input.

  3. Hat's off to you my Annie for being good and consistent with your blogging. I just can't keep up. I am not the least bit annoyed by any comment you make, so keep it up. You share helpful information and tidbits along with an occasional plug which I consider a perfect mix. Love it all… !!!

  4. I'm a little late to the party Annie, but better late than never right ? I never thought anything of posting the same thing to multiple platforms before, UNTIL I read a FB post from someone who I believe is one of the Social Media / Techie gurus out there, and she was POO POOING the practice up and down, calling it amateurish and un professional, yadda yadda, so I thought about it, and posted a reply asking why... you would have thought I started a political or religion debate, but I was the only one who thought there was nothing wrong with it. She and her followers acted like I was a committed the worst of cardinal sins. So I then posted a question similar to yours on some of the more "artistic" leaning forums I'm on, and almost everyone says..Screw it, do what you want, promote the hell out of your stuff.. if people don't like it they don't have to look at it. Soooooo now what I do, is stagger my posts throughout the day, via Hootsuite. I probably should get it into the "re-posting" habit though. That's a good idea.

    1. Hi Marty! I vaguely remember the discussion in the more "arty" forum. Forgot all about how the "techie" group thought it was strongly against double posting. I don't re-post that much, but I do post it once EVERYwhere I am online! Seems to me like I should re-post since twitter, facebook threads etc. scroll down and only a few eyes see a post at anyone time....

Thanks for mentioning Hoot Suite. It reminded me that I have Tweet Deck - will look into what is has to offer :-)
